AREA researcher are working to introduce new postharvest technologies and practices to reduce crop loss and improve marketability of food products. 

Postharvest Loss Management and Food Safety Research and Extension Program

This program addresses food safety by focusing on monitoring aflatoxin contamination in crops and identifying better ways to handle agricultural products. AREA is introducing technologies to decrease postharvest losses and improve food safety. AREA's trainings focus on food safety and helping farmers and potential exporters meet U.S. food export regulations.
