Kelly Davidson's doctorate work took her to Bangladesh, where she conducted field experiments and led master's students to investigate strategies to combat malnutrition. It was a long way from a small town in Ohio, where she grew up on a farm and first became inspired in international agriculture.
Improving the understanding of science to support decision-making is a top priority for Pamela Fletcher, a climate change specialist with the Florida Sea Grant, a university-based program in partnership with the University of Florida Institute for Food and Agricultural Sciences. It's all part of her effort to promote the understanding of marine ecosystems and sea-level resilience.
Since the start of the USAID funded Innovative Agricultural Research Initiative (iAGRI), UF/IFAS has trained 14 Tanzanian students (10 MS candidates, 4 PhD candidates). As of December 2016, all of the students have completed their degree programs and returned to positions in Tanzania where they help to improve the country’s agricultural production and food security.
